Jeep 2.4L throttlebody swap
« on: September 12, 2009, 07:36:45 AM »
New to this frum, so if this question has been asked...my apologies.  Ive got the 2.4L and I see lots of articles about swapping a 4.0L tb on the 2.5L motor...but nothing on doing the same with the 2.4L.  Is this even possible?  Thanks

if that's the only problem (difference) you can always make an adapter (e.g. something like the spacer with countersunk holes for the intake bolts and threaded holes for the t/b - a piece of 1/2'' aluminum will do) - but question is will the other things bolt right in: tps, map, IAC?

I would look toward other Chrysler products, maybe with a turbo 2.4L or otherwise, and see if they have a larger TB that will swap on.

80mm sounds a bit big for a 2.4L four, but who knows.  I'd be weary of the following in the Ebay auction:
Quote
# Universal fit to most car, come with adapter plate that you can weld on a intake manifold.
# Included a place to bolt on TPS (Throttle position sensor).
# No instructions included. Professional installation is highly recommended.

i agree.  more of a comparison of tb's just to get an idea of things.  i think the upgraded tbs are  62mm...much smaller than the 80mm on ebay!  but, ive seen going from a 2.5L tb toa 4.0L tb, just never anything about the 2.4L
