« on: November 11, 2009, 12:29:44 AM »
where can I find a 4.0 throttle body for very own?  do they only come on the Jeeps or is there other places to get them?  Also will a spacer really do anything if you have fuel injecton?

Is the 62mm throttle body that Bounty Hunter is selling the same thing as the 4.0 throttle body?

Those are the 4.0 throttle bodies I believe. Go into that thread and inquire about it. He'll let you know if it'll work for you.

the 62mm is a bored out 4.0l throttle body for even more increased flow..

It absolutely makes a difference on my Jeep. It moves the power band down about 400 rpm, so the power comes on sooner.
95 YJ with 2.5// Engine built up a fair bit.

The 4.0L TB is somewhere around 55mm at the taper, my 62mm has a straight through bore for a huge increase in throttle response.  I have several available as well as spacers.

Do I need to open up the intake manifold also, or is that already open enough?

You will need to open it up, I used plastic wrap and blocks of playdough to block the manifold
had a shop vac running used a die grinder to open it up. I only have a 60 its a stock 4.0 unit and
I needed to do it.

Just use the new TB or spacer as a pattern and draw around the
inside of it with a sharpie on the manifold, grind to the line.... :)

mine was the same opening as the 4.0L t/b so i didn't need to do it, but i know you have to for the 62mm one.

Do you have to change out the rubber part from the throttle body to the air filter box, or does that stay the same?

The 62mm TB is externally identical to the TB you're replacing, so everything attaches the same.

The next question is the spacer.  A mechanic I know says they work well with a carb but does nothing for fuel injected vehicles.  any truth to this??

It's pretty hotly debated, retailers state hp improvements but I've seen magazine articles that refuted them.  Personal choice, I've noticed slight improvements myself, nothing more than seat of the pants to back it up.  Mine are only $40, so choice is yours.
