New Shoes!!!
« on: November 20, 2009, 03:28:38 PM »
So I finally put my new Goodyear MT/R's on 33x12.50.
They actually fit well on my 2" lift. They are on 15x8 cragar soft 8's and fit perfectly, and arent much wider than my old 31x10.50's.

So far the power loss hasn't been noticable, but I also haven't gone uphill yet!

I'm gonna be taking my axles out to be regeared after thanksgiving(saves $450 with them out on the install) and then I will be putting all the components on for my 3" lift.

Also got a new bumper that I will post picks later after I finish paintng it.

Tell me what you think about the width, I'm ordering the Xenon flat fender's and am leading towards the 4" over the 6" as I like the tires to be a little wider than the flares.

One more thing the white lettering sucks!

If you don't like the white lettering you should of had them put the black side out although I'm not sure how that will work since the tread is different on the inside then the outside.

Looks good.  I'm starting to like that weird tread pattern.  The reviews have been good too.

Tires look nice, you will regret the white letters on the outside though when you start wheeling more, they turn into retro white walls

in that case i would also think that there are left and right side tires, otherwise the pattern would be reversed on compared to the driver's side.

Non-directional tires are interesting.  They are actually directional when riding in a v-notch on just the outside edges.  One one side of the Jeep the lugs slope forward and on the other side of the Jeep they slope backwards.  So they are just non-directional when nearly the entire tread is in contact with the ground.

Well the tires have an inside and outside and I saw some where that that new funky tread is to be on the inside, so the white lettering is on the outside. Every pic I have seen of them that's how they are mounted.

There is no left or right side(or that's what I was told) so each side is running in different directions. I will call good year myself to see if that is true.

NICE! i thought 32s would be the limit on a 2" lift, but your 33s fit real well. any rubbing at all? Id like to upgrade to 32s soon and i have a 2.5" lift. I may just go with 33s. Did you get those at any place in particular?

The tires rub when the wheel is turned all the way but that is it.

I got them at America's Tires and had them price match 4Wheelparts for $199 then they gave them to me for $190 a piece.

Depends on where your at they might be Discount tires store?

Go with the 33's over the 32's.

I personally think the white lettering makes it "pop" (kinda like a late 60's muscle car), but then again I have the white lettering out on tires that I won't be taking on trails, the only thing I have to look out for on the "road" tires is curb damage when parallel parking in the city. By spring I hope to have dedicated bias ply's for offroading.

My 97

BTW have you thought about trimming the fender flares? That is next on my "to do" list. A little more clearance for 0 cash. Unless your area is big on ticketing for flares not covering the tires.

I try to keep the tires under the fenders, too many broken mirrors
and I get tired of them throwing mud into the jeep.

Besides, its a free offer to let a cop pull you over any time
they want, and I avoid that just on principal...

if it's contacting the frame, a spacer should take care of that. my 31s are spaced due to that.  with 33s, are you concerned with losing the ability to flex as much? that would be the only thing keeping me from jumping to 33s..though it seems you still have enough clearence. is your lift a body lift or do you have longer springs and shocks?

I have a 2" spacer and rubicon springs from an 06' rubi.

Ya if after I put my 3" springs on and they still rub the frame I will do the steering adjustment that Jeff has in the FAQ section. If need be but I dont really want to I will do a 1" body lift after I take it wheeling if it looks like I'll need it.

I dont want to trim the old flares, so i'm just buying the 4" flat Xenon flares. My old tires stuck out a little less than my new ones and I never had any issues with the Fuzz! If get a fix it ticket Rugged Ridge sells some 7" flares for $150 for a set that I can throw on to show the cops.

There isnt alot of mud in SoCal, but I have gone threw water and had it flung at my face and that does suck!
