Topic: anyone know what brand the stock muffler on a 91 jeep wrangler S 2.5?

Does anyone know what brand the stock muffler on a 91 jeep wrangler S 2.5? It doesn't have a catback but instead has a turndown. It has a huge hole in the top of the muffler. The reason I ask is I am hoping it is a Borla because of the million mile warranty they have on their parts. THe reason i say stock is the muffler looks like it is atleast 15 years old because of rust,etc..

It sure isn't a Borla, and the stock muffler on a 91 YJ would be a miracle.   Spend the $25 at oreilly for a stock replacement and you'll be good to go.

The stock exhaust system is usually some no name minimum bidder generic thing.  Borla's do not come from teh factory and are stainless steel so there will be no rust on them.  They also stamped with BORLA in large letters across the body.

You're either going to have to coyboyup and buy a Borla or just have your neighborhood exhaust shop replace it.  Might want to have the cat checked while you're at it.  I'm sure yours is OEM and is probably just as rusty.

The good thing about having to replace the cat is that you can buy a complete bolt-on exhaust and cat and put it on yourself.  This means you can fix it if it ever gets damaged without having to get use a torch or cut-off wheel to take it off.

the factory uses the cheapest ones avail . you have such an aftermarket for exhaust parts that you can get almost anythiung you want . my jeep like everyones eats exhaust so i bought a life time warrenty muffler.
