broken D35 fix to get home

$178 and it does not include the front unit bearing.
Interesting kit. I think a set of spare axles would be cheaper.

I think so too.  Not to mention, you'll be back 100% instead of 50%.

easy to make, although i would go with a solid chunk rather than all that welding job - would keep everything liked up better too i believe

i keep trying to come up with a solution to use the front bearing on the rear axle but i can't come up with a way to secure the 2 halves of the bearing w/o having to machine the axle.

If you're just wanting to carry a spare wheel bearing, you might consider building it into a tire carrier.

i meant to have it as a full floater rather using the front bearing

Gotta love your way's of machining parts and your craftsmanship....BUT I wouldn't mess with the D35 at all. It's been said over and over again to spend the money and time on a better axle. :stick:

A club member came over today. He bought a used TJ (4banger). He brought over the D35 carrier that was wasted! One of the carrier bearings was gone...I mean eaten off by the PO driving it until it was dust. The ring gear was a mess too. This is pretty much a stock Jeep not been wheeled. Luckily for him I had one. So I traded him so he can get it back together so he can move it around. He found a D44 from another club member he is gonna put in.

With all that, I would rather carry spare shafts and a diff repair kit. Then get home and choose better options for a rear axle.

Better off putting the $178 towards an 8.8.

Interesting, but yes spare axle shafts would be a better bet. Speaking of which, I should put my old D35 shafts on CL

I don't get it.. Other than maybe weight this saves space?

Hmm Although if a club had one in their support trailer... It would work on any D35 that broke.. With small mods would work on a 44 too.
