*RANT* Can't believe this!!!
« on: February 23, 2010, 01:04:26 PM »
On Friday I bought a 2000 Chevy k2500 on 10" lift, fox suspension, 1 ton axles... the works right.  Get this for a straight trade for my 95 5.0 Gt. Now this truck has been sitting without a transmission and t-case for about 3 months in the shop parking lot.  The day, I mean same day! I trade titles someone comes and steals my shocks....!  coincidence?  I think not.  Got the sheriff to take fingerprints and a claim into my ins.  Downfall I know I am going to get the claim denied because it looks suspicious that Jell-O went stolen same day I buy it! ugh Karma better strike.  I hope the finger prints come up with something.  $1,200-1,500 dollars gone in shocks, poof just like that.

you won't get claim denied even if it's suspicious - if they catch the thief then the insurance company has to go and recover the money, you get paid by the insurance company. if they recover the money (which they rarely do on small claims) you're should get back your deductible as well.

Only question will be on your coverage.  Unless you insured it as a modified vehicle with 5-10K of agreed value extra coverage, it's unlikely that the insurance is going to pay for mega buck shocks for a pickup that was worth about $4K  (non-op 2000 pickup)

Why would someone steel just one?  Don't they realize that they are valved for dual setup?  Probably not...

I don't think it will be a problem of the insurance paying out.   I wonder if the shop could be liable as it as it was till in their possession when it happened?

Shop has it posted they are not liable for stuff in yard.  he is installing my new ones for free.  getting 1520 for the shocks and labor, only 100 deductible.  Just got off phone with claims adjuster.  they stole all of them

see, toldya' :)

good that you only have $100 deductible.

tell the shop to park the thing inside, no point in installing the shocks while it's still there (outside) - and what a gentleman, is installing the shocks for free - how about covering the deductible since it was on their property when it happened.

Wen tack welded all the bolts, going to get a cheap pair so i can drive until I get the check. (which can take weeks).  Figuring on going with a set of rancho's for now. I can throw em on my jeep after I buy my fox's again.  Or just pocket money and I got 1500.00 to throw towards the jeep

i highly doubt it they will hand you a cheque without a receipt - but i guess that depends on the insurance company.

on mine they will give you the replacement value if you are actually buying the item or the depreciated value if you want to be reimbursed - i didn't know some are actually giving you the brand new cost, that's great.
