Topic: Off-road tires

This spring I am going to attempt the rubicon with some climbing buddies.  My rig should be complete by then.  For off-road tires I was told, and saw that BIG Horn are really good.



what do you all think of this company?

For starters that is an ATV tire.

Maxxis tires are pretty good.  A friend used to run some 31" Mudzillas (no longer available) and they were great.

First picture I could find.  I am just wondering if the brand is worth the cost.  I have TOYO on my one rig and BFG on the other and do not like either.

What are you looking for? Street, trail, both?

A set for trail, I was told big horn makes one for both but I didn't see where to look for that rating. Both would be nice (all around tire) but if I have to get separate I will just have to bite bullet and just get a set for daily driving and a set for trail.

I really like my Interco TRXSUS MT's...daily driver and have performed great on the trail as well.

My Mickey Thompson MTZ's do well on the trail and are pretty quiet on the road too.

I drove the Rubicon at the end of last summer on some fairly new Firestone Destination MTs.  They have decent traction off-road and on road, they're fairly quiet and pretty good in the rain.  You probably can't go wrong with any of the MTs mentioned here, though.  Have a good trip!

If you say you're looking for a trail only tire, you should be looking at something bias ply not radial

For trail only I'd go Bias Irok.  I had a set on my old CJ and they worked great on any terrain.

If it is trail only, I agree; I use my rig for dual purpose, and have BFG MT KM2's on it.  Fairly quiet (cat hear them over the rest of the Jeep noise), and have very good road traction even when wet.  Off road, they behave very well on muddy trails (I dont do rocks, so cannot help you there; also, no snow or ice in Central America, so I have no idea how they do there either).
