http://www.firestik.com/CatalogFrame.htm

I use a 4ft one of these. On that site there is a lot of info on CB's. Take a look at the tuning tips to get a low SWR reading. You will need to buy a SWR meter. Check ebay, there is a ton of them for cheap. All CB's and the antenna should be tuned.

With K40 out of the biz, I'd fo with a firestick but I'd make sure to mount it low so it's not gonna get hung up on anything and I'd ass a spring so it's flexible if it does.

Now that I think about it I would bet if I ran a 3 footer VS. the 4 I might not have to take it off before going into the garage.
Would a foot shorter antenna effect range much?

Get a quick-disconnect for the antenna?  A foot can change how it projects.  You kind of want the tip to be as high or higher then anything that might interfere with the signal strength.  It's already going to be oblong because it's mounted to the back of the Jeep though.

It's pretty easy to unscrew. I just need to remember to do it before trying to get into the garage. A QD would mean take it off first too. No biggie just wondering.
