Ok guy's. you've helped me out before with great results!   I have some codes that are coming up. I have looked up the code # and i'm not sure what They all mean and the mean's to fix them. Electrical has alway's thrown me for a loop!     Also just learned how to check the codes..   First # is 12 then 33- 14 -44    I did unhook some of the connections under the hood to make shur they were all plugged in tight.   Lately my jeep has been running a little rough on idle, not bad but noticeable. When at idle, the idle goes up and down a little. not enough to see it on the rpm gauge though.   My jeep has just turned 90 thousand miles. Jeep has all ways run perfect.  I just did a tune up and a oil change,  brass rotor cap, plugs.  The old plugs looked preety good with just a light brownish tan to them.  I thought this would clean up the idle but has not.    would really appreciate any info you had and what to replace if needed with the codes..   Thanks very much!   James....

by the codes you disconnected the battery recently (12) and you have removed the connectors on some sensors with the key ignition on or when running. Not sure about the 44 (something about the battery temp sensor, i have a '95 and i don't know of such thing).

did they put some injector cleaner when you did the tuneup, that might have caused some issues with the injectors. On the other hand there's really nothing to tune on a '95 YJ other than replacing the plugs and related and maybe cleaning the throttle body, IAC valve and housing and PCV fittings.

SHARPXMEN,   Thanks for the reply and help!  I did recently put in a additive in my fuel tank (Full of Gas). Not sure what the product was , I think STP injector cleaner was it!   When i installed the tune up, i really didn't notice a difference with the idle. It almost seems like the RPM's is a little low- Not sure.  One of the things i did recently was install a new muffler and i took out half of the honey comb in the cat. I lost a little bottom end and gained a little on the top, not much though.  What should i do about the codes, do i reset the computer? I've read different ways to do this. Could you tell me what the correct procedure is !      Really appreciate the help!    James....

reset the computer (take the terminals off the battery, touch them together and leave it off for 5 minutes - that should do)

the risk with the injector cleaner is that it could displace some debris, i would just run this tank thru and then fill up with new gas, could get better in time.

not sure about that cat thing you did (and how was done) usually removing the honeycomb you risk of plugging the rest of it and maybe have parts blocking the pipes and/or muffler - you can get generic replacements starting with the cat, muffler and pipes for below $150 so if you think that is an issue i would just replace them (not saying that causes your rough idle)

also, make sure that your injector connectors are making good contact so they don't interrupt, you could unplug them one by one and see if there is one that is less significant and focus on it (if it is quite obvious you could just replace it with a second hand one). You could also leave it running at idle for a bit, then stop and remove the plugs, if one injector is not atomizing properly you would have a wet or black plug (but that could also point to a bad plug/wire issue).

SHARPXMEN,   Thanks! Not sure if when i remove the battery terminals and touch them together, Do i make sure they are touching each other for the full 5 minutes?        The cat,  I took off the muffler system off, from cat back. I needed to buy a new muffler (rust).   The cat was in great shape, no clogging at all!   When you look inside the cat, there are (2) honey combed pieces in there. One in the front of the cat and one in the rear.   I removed the one in the front thinking this would free up some air movement (let air move through the cat easier).   Which i believe it did!   Mostly feel it on the top end, from mid to the top of the RPM it pulls better.     I will look at the injectors closer and clean up the throttle body.      I forgot to mention that i removed both the plastic inserts that are in the air intake tube and filter box.   Do you think this would make the idle a little rough?   When i say rough, i mean very little . but different then normal.  The idle fluctuates up and down @ idle.    You can just barely see it on the RPM gauge.            Also, i have read on hear that people complain about the lack of horsepower  these yj's have!  Mine is sloowww!  I can go down the highway at about 65 mph but that is pushing it!      Not sure if this is right or wrong.   My daughter had a 91 for a short time with a 2.5 and it was spunky.   This jeep also had the older style fuel injection.      Shouldn't the newer fuel injection have just as much  power or maybe a little more?     I've owned my 95 for over 6 years now and it has never changed, (horsepower that is)    The thing only has 90 thousand and i'm the second owner. I bought it from a college girl that her dad bought for her and she barely drove it!    Not complaining though, i love my JEEP!    Thanks for the help!     James....

You really only need to ground the positive +12v to ground.  There is no reason to disconnect the -12v.  Also, you shouldn't really have to ground it for more then a minute.  The Jeeps capacitors aren't that big.

Also, beware that the catalyst inside the cat is highly toxic.  You don't want to breath it.  You can also sell the catalyst material to a recycler.  Problem with breaking it up is that the existing catalyst has to do the all of the work now.  For a Jeep that's 15 years old, the cat probably needs to be replaced anyway.

If you can barely do 65mph then something is wrong, either with the Jeep or with your driving technique.

Jeffy,   Thanks for the info!    As far as the speed of the jeep. 5 Speed with 4-11 gears. I could probable do 70 mph but i would have o hold it to the wood!      I also think that something is not right. The jeep runs like a champ as far as most people think when they drive it.   The jeep runs really good, probably get around 17 MPG.    I know it is hard to give advise on something like this without looking-driving it your self but what do you think it might be?   The jeep is not lifted, all stock except for the 31" MT/R tires. Has a hard top on it with half doors and half hard top doors.  Stock running gear, all stock!       What do you think, were would you start?       Thanks for any help!    James....

The tires are throwing off your speedometer and odometer.  Stock tires are typically 205's or 215's which are 27" and 28".  Change your speedometer gear (FAQ) and you'll not only get correct numbers, you'll also get better performance.

i wold check the intake manifold gasket for a leak
sound like you have a vaccum leak or you are starting to get a rounded camshaft that could make a uneven idle check your compression
