I never have cared for that style lift, I wonder if he just overloaded it to cause it to fail like that, it doesnt look like he hit the truck

It looks like he was using some sort of block and it kicked out from the rear pad.  I've used the single and double post lifts in the past.  I doubt the guy tested his lift before raising it all the way up.

I like the 2 post style myself, it makes it easier for dropping drivetrains, suspension or exhaust work pretty much anything, a 4 post isnt bad if youre just doing fluid changes

The lift is/was fine.  It was operator error.

My dad had a center post lift and I have had a few close calls. You deffinitly need to check the blocks before trusting the "pick" I bet he had the block on a round leaf spring perch or something simular and it slipped off.
