Topic: death wobbel

since i put my lift on my tj has a horrible death wobbel around 50 to 55 mph. my tires are wore funny and i have a good feeling thats the cause. i have upgraded the steering stablizer and had it algined i was just wondering if their was anything else i could do to help the problem till i get new tires thanks for the help guys

Take a peak at your track bar and drag link. They need to be in the same plane. Meaning if they don't have the same angle to each other your gonna get some wobble. Once you lift the Jeep those angles changed.
How much lift did you do? There are relocation brackets for the track bar if yours are not the same angle.

Did you get a wheel alignment after you put the lift on?

I'd say check the geometry, you might need adjustable (longer) lower arms

yea i got an alignment done and it was a 4 inch lift from zone, i did had to drill a whole 3/4 of an inch over for the track bar its wat the instructions said to do to fix the steering

usually wobble is a result of too little caster angle (the wheels lack tendency to straighten themselves) - did they check the caster angle when you did your alignment?

Also, loose or worn suspension joints as well as steering tie-rods but I'd suspect the joints are OK.

I doubt the track bar and the drag-link are parallel but I wouldn't think it would cause that much of an issue.

i was looking at the currie heavy duty tie rod kit made for 4 inches of lift do you think this will help i no its a little pricey but i read it was a good upgrade and i want to get it all taken care off before i get new tires

Also check the bushings in the track bar... Hope you could solve this ASAP for your own safety...

its not to bad but the other night it did scare the crap out of me. the track bar bolt on the axel get tight on the nut but wont tighten up all the way i got a new one but havent been abel to put it in yet u think that could be c ausing it?

I had some crazy death wobble and i replaced everything from the wheel hubs, stabilizer, bushings and the tie rod ends. It turned out to be the track bar bracket. The track bar bolt came loose and wallowed out the hole. check the bracket and see if the bolt hole is wallowed out, if so, then that is most likely the problem. I fixed mine by welding a 1/4 inch piece of flat strap over the front of the bracket and drilled a new hole. problem solved and i have not had death wobble.
