Maximizing my 95's 2.5L potential on a budget
« on: December 19, 2010, 09:09:33 PM »
The plan is to maximize my YJs power potential on a budget.  Ill be using my Christmas money to purchase a Pacesetter header, cold air kit (havent decided on brand), a TBS, 4.0 TB, bore my intake out, and possibly some fuel injectors.. Ill be having all of this flowing into my cherry bomb turbo exhaust runnin no cat.  Is there any other easy mods besides an electric fan ( I like the simplicity and reliability of my mechanical fan), or tuning I can do .. I just want a little more highway power .. like seriously anything will help .. Ill be doing all of the mods at the same time .. how much of  a difference will I notice and will it affect my mileage for the +/-?.  BTW its a 95 yj with a 2.5L with 93,000 easily driven miles. 2.5" rubicon express lift and bfg 31x10.5r15 AT tires

if you do a 4.0 t/b you don't need to bore out your intake (for my '95 YJ i didn't have to, the opening was the same size as the bottom of the 4.0 t/b)

IMO don't buy a cold air kit or the injectors. Get a adjustable fuel pressure regulator from Sharp. Also the 62-64mm throttle bodies are a good way to go to.
Like Jeffy said, spend some time looking at what others have done. Lots of info here. The search works good.

have you thought about new ring and pinion? not much of a budget option, but those other add ons can get expensive too it sounds

That's the most expensive mod (short of an engine swap or turbo), but it's the one you will feel the most...  It's all a trade-off!
