:yikes: Bad street to live on with icy roads. I feel bad for the guy in the diesel pick up at the end. He tired not to pile up on the stack at the bottom of the hill but ended up there anyway.

What about the Ford Fusion?  I'd bet it was a AWD.  Driver seemed skiddish almost driving into that other truck but then realized they could turn the wheel.

Most people panic and lock the brakes, which = no steering. I learned long ago tap the brakes and only hold them hard enough to slow you down and not lock them up. When you lock them up it feels like you pick up speed.
The little red car that was climbing the hill then got turned right when the car was coming from the top was funny. Reverse!

Most of those cars probably have ABS but once you're sliding it's harder to regain grip as you can't really slow yourself down anymore.  In which case you'd probably be better trying to drive out of it slowly.  Although then you get people who have fists of ham like that GMC owner.  Takes finesse.  Also helps to have the right kind of tires.  Most people who don't live back east don't have two sets of tires or bother to run chains.

back around thanksgiving we had a ice storm in mn.. about that much trackion but not snow colored just 1/4" glare ice everywhere.. one of those where you can hardly scrape the ice off the windows because you keep sliding away... not a fun night.. would have rather had 12+ inches of snow... good thing all the hills on my route home had been salted...
1990 YJ 4cly, ax5, 2.5 inch BDS lift, 31 MTr\'s,  Powertrax-lockers all around, track-bars removed, boomerang shackles, warn m8000 winch, electric fan. [sold but not forgotten]

Black ice is really dangerous since it looks normal.  We get a lot of that around here as it's too low an elevation to get snow, usually.
