3,200 rpm idle!!!!

I put a 4.0 TB , throttle body spacer, performance ignition, pacesetter header and cold air intake on my 2.5 this weekend and I started it up and my idle shot up to 3200 and wont go back down what did I do wrong ?!?!?! or where is my vac leak coming from?!?!?!?

i think it called the ais motor sounds like u didnt change it. its the one with the tamper proof bits try that and see if it dont fix the problem

I would look at two options.  1) Did you reset the computer?  That many changes at once it might be confused ;)  2)  Could be the TPS sensor.  (Not the sensor with tamper proof torx)  I know the one on the 4.0 TB I got from the junkyard was bad, and replaced it with the one from the 2.5.  For my application, they both used the same part number.

I switched both sensors over TPS and the one with tamper proof bits . i switched the housing for the tamper proof bits sensor (AIS ?? ) also .. started it up and i even pressed on the butterfly and no change it was perfectly flat .. I had the batt disconnected all week so the computer had to of gotten reset all of my vac lines are hooked up also .. im at a loss right now something isnt right

you could have a vacuum leak between the manifold and the head from installing the header which i assume resulted in you removing and reinstalling the intake manifold.

I have no clue what the throttle body came off of I told the salvage yard I needed one off of a 94-97 4.0 .. also Im leaning towards a bad seal on the intake.  I just detorqued and retorqued the intake manifold bolts to 26 ft lb, but when i was putting the TB back on I snapped a bolt off so I have to wait until morning to get a new one -_- .. keep the advice coming

If the TB is a 97 or newer has a MAP sensor attachment.  You can use them on a older OBD-I but you will need to cap off the tube for the MAP otherwise you'll get a massive vacuum leak.

make sure you plug that hole (or just leave the map sensor there, no harm in that) but even if that hole was open you would not get 3200 rpm idle.

My best guess is that the intake manifold is not sitting right on the cyl head (someone else mentioned that) - the pacesetter has some offset washers you need to use between the intake and exhaust, make sure those are sitting right and hold the intake firm on the gasket. Did you use the pacesetter gasket?

also, another thing - make sure the valve cover blowby fitting (the brass one closer to the rad) is connected to the intake manifold (that can give you a high idle like that if left unplugged) and also check the brake vac booster (another large fitting in the manifold, same there can result in a high idle like you describe) - anything else would increase the idle but not as much.

Wow I feel like an idiot I forgot about the offset washers .. They aren't even on there.. Might be a good place to start ..

Can someone post instructions or pics or both on where and how those washers go.. Pacesetter didn't give very clear instructions with the kit

i don't have pics but I'll try to explain.

they go on the bolts that hold both the intake and exhaust, the thinner part sits on the intake, the thicker portion on the exhaust flange (since the pacesetter exhaust flange is thinner than stock that's why they made those to compensate and the washer would sit flat under the nut or bolt head).

there is also a bolt right in the center of the intake to the cyl head (it's underneath from what i remember, i'm too lazy to go look right now but maybe later) make sure you didn't forget about that one either

Ok on mine I have 4 bolts holding the intake on 2 up top and 2 below in the center of the intake.  I think you explained it well enough I can figure it out thank you so much

yeah, you're right - the exhaust has a center one but it's on top.
