Topic: Toyo open country mts

Anybody running 33 or higher toyo open country mts on their yj? I am curious as to how the 4 squirrels handle them, bein they r on the heavy side. Just tryin to decide what tire i want to run of the 33 variety, pavement wear isnt a concern as it may see 50 miles every month or so.

From what I've read, they are heavy tires.  3-ply sidewalls are pretty thick.  Don't know anyone running them though.

Heavy and bad on ice are the 2 major complaints im seein, little concerned with lost power, dont take much stock in the bad on ice. In my line of work ive found most people just cant drive....

If you're putting only 50 miles on road then I'd consider Super Swampers.  They're also heavy but they're great offroad.  Not as great onroad but then they're also cheap.  Then maybe have them sipe them for better onroad manors.

i run them, but i have a TJ. they are nice and quiet and ride well on road and do well off road. mud doesnt seem to be much of a problem.  I did get pretty stuck in some messy/slushy deep snow, but given the depth and crappy condition of the snow, im sure others would have sunk in as well. However, the heavy snowfall this winter meant my Jeep was the primary mode of transportation for not only myself (it is my DD) but my girlfriend as well..and the tires handled beautifully in the deep snow while on the road.
I run a 33x12.0" by the way. if you are concerned about power loss and weight of the tire you can have them in 33x11 or 11.5 (can't remember which). My next set is going to be that narrower size.

i thought they made a 33x11.50. the guy who sold me this set at Townfare Tire looked up a size and said that it was basically 33x11.50-but it was on national backorder. Guess he was BSing me.

They make a 10.5, 12.5 and a 13.5 in 33".  No 11.5"  That would be a strange size.

scroll down to the metric sizes. LT275/70R18 125P E/10 (33X11.00R18) they have 33x12 (which is what i have) and 33x11.50

I'm running the 235/85x16 (measure 32.5 inches) 
I ran the Larger (34") ones but they cut my mileage BADLY.

They run quiet, I got about 45k miles out of the first larger set.

These perform WAY WAY better than the BFG's, Swampers, and
other mud tires I've run when out in the gooball montana missouri river midwest mud.

I've run them in cold snow up to the hood with no issues.
They do plug up with snow, if its wet soggy stuff, unless you really spin them.

I'm a narrow tire guy which is why I went to the 235... Even built my 2.5
cant spin any of the really big mud tires and if you cant spin you cant clear the clay out of the tires..

And, I don't do any wheeling that needs a 33+ tires size near as I can tell...

they offer 33x11 and 11.5 on a 16. my 33x12 are on 16s. anyway, they have a multitude of different sizes. I just posted this to let TruckerT know that if he is concerened about weight or power loss they offer narrower 33s.

Thanks for the feedback, i will probably stick with my original plan of mt atz's for my needs as of now. It is my dd when im home.

Those sizes would be LT255/85R16 (33x10R16), LT285/75R16 (33X11.50R16) and LT305/70R16 (33.0X12.00R16).  R designates they are Radial tires and 16 is the wheel size. This removes the ambiguity when just saying, "33x11.50" as the wheel dia. could be anything.
