I purchased a Durango Steering Box to replace my stock one given my increased tire size and the fact my stock one was leaking from every possible place. This is a fairly common swap. All went well on disassembly, until we took a look at the lines and tried to match them to the new box. Firstly, the 4cyl seems to have a power steering sensor that apparently prevents the engine from stalling when turning the wheel (supposed to kick up the RPM a bit). The Durango lines don't allow for that. I need new lines however, and when we tried to plug the old lines into the new box, we found they were too small and wouldn't thread.
Any ideas on how to rig this so that it will work?? I guess, there is no getting around the sensor, so basically I need lines that will fit the box.
