I am from Altoona, Florida in the edge of the Ocala National Forest. My first Jeep was a 1948 with a flathead 4 banger. I had a 1980 CJ7 that started out with the 258 but changed it out with a built AMC 360 that I eventually made into a sand dragger. I now own a 1994 Wrangler with the 2.5. Alot of fun on the forest trails. The 4 banger does really well but of course I'm am looking for ways to get more out of it! I am in the process of installing a 8.8 and 4:56 gears to make up for the swampers I put on. I am hpeful this site will lead me to upgrades that will give me the extra hp I'm am looking for.  ???

I am new to the Jeep world. I bought a 95 YJ in July07. It already had a 4 inch Rubicon Express lift, it was Herculined, and had some nasty looking 30 tires. It also has a 2.5 and auto trans.. I changed out the wheels and tires up to 32's. I added a TBS and cold air intake. I could tell a difference with those two things. It has stock 3.73 gears in it. I plan on going up to 33's later. I am going to be getting the MML and the Daystar 1" body lift for it around christmas time, plus to help the angle to the rear to prevent some vibes. It has the tube front and back bumpers and tube side bars. I did some mods to them by cutting off the top outside tube due to rust and covered the back in nonskid and plan on doing some on the front also.
Anyone in the Oceanside or camp Pendleton area drop me an email.

Hello, I've been reading this for a few weeks, but just signed up with an account.

I just bought a '99 Wrangler SE 4banger. It's in good condition and works for getting to school and work, (I'm 17) but doesn't quite satisfy my desire to go off the training wheels (also known as off-roading)

I've driven a dirtbike since I was born, but I'm new to the jeep and am not the best mechanic. I'm here (at least for now) to learn.

Thanks for the welcome!  I live at the dunes so if you go there, I'm sure you have seen me.

99senewbie-

welcome from one newbie to another.  This is my 3rd wrangler and I have built all 3 of them multiple times over hehe, it's a sickness.  You should start a thread describing what you'd like to do with your jeep, I'm sure we could all give you some idea's.

Hello to all. I have always had a pasion for Jeeps and finally was able to buy one about two years ago. I purchased a 1993 wrangler YJ with 47,000 original miles on it with stock supspension running 31" tires. My first time in the mud I misjudged the water and found that it doesn't compress as well as gas. Put a new engine in it and two weeks after that thwe hood latch broke bringing the hood to me at 60mph. Well I have got that fixed and have started to modify it to trail/mud readiness. My plan is to put a 4" lift with 33" tires, rhino line the inside, and do minor after market upgrades.

Hello,
     I'm mike, I'm in Texas..Austin/San Marcos area.
I have an 89 Yj, 2.5L Peugeot thans, 231, 30/35, 4.10's (stock)
3" procrap lift, trimmed flares/fenders, LED rouns in the rear, can't find my doors, has windjammer and bikini most of the time.
Every sensor and the gas tank have all been replaced.  Misc other maint, I came across the forum trying to find ways to get more juice out of my 2.5 ULO (ultra low output).
I usually just wheel in whatever I can find, but am now addicted to Katemcy rocks ( www.katemcyrocks.com )
I managed to rip every thing that wasn't stock off the jeep first time I went, broke my backup lights and bent more sheet metal than I figured I would first trip out there,. I wheel with krawltex guys ( www.krawltex.com )
I'm still in the buildup stage as this is my DD.
I drive about 50-60 miles to work and back(round trip) every day. I have 33X14 boggers stuffed onto 15x8's... never gonna worry about popping a bead.

I look forward to finding out as much as I can about squeezing all the juice out of my banger.

Hello all I am from Dubuque Iowa and this is my jeep story.

I bought it new, its a 2002 TJ se 2.5L, the engine bit the dust at around the 56k mark.  I got a rebuilt one in there now that run's great that was free under warranty!  The jeep has 62k miles on it now and the engine only has 6k on it.

Anyway after almost 6 years of neglect its starting to look pretty humble and it looks like it has alot more miles on it than it does.  I have ran into 4 deer & killed 3 of them with this thing so it has it share of dents and paint flaws.  I just finished painted my faded fenders black with kyrlon spray paint and they look great.  I plan on repainting my rusted black rock crawler rims too.

Now that my jeep is starting to look more respectable, and being that its payed off now and it should last a while with its new engine and all I thought now is a good time to stick a lift kit on it and big mudders.  I plan to replace the current 30 x 9.5 x 15 kumho road venture mt's with 33 x 12.5 x 15 of the same type of tire because they kick ass and actually last alot of miles too.  I am a cheap skate so I am thowing on a 4" rough country lift too.  4.88 gears and I would like to put in some type of locker ordeal maybe a true trac in the back, maybe something in the front in the not so near future.

HI FLOYD HERE. I LIVE IN OREGON CITY, OREGON.  NEVER BEEN IN A FORUM BEFORE. HAVE A 84 CJ 2.5L T5 DANA300 20 REAR AND 30 FRONT. HAVE KEPT IT PRETTY STOCK EXCEPT FOR 2.5" LIFT. PUT WARN AXLES AND DIAL LOCKERS IN THE REAR. TAKE ALL THE HASSLE OUT OF TOWING. I HAVE A WEBER 32 WHICH WORKS REALLY GOOD EXCEPT WHEN I HAVE TO GO THROUGH DEQ, THEN I HAVE TO PUT MISTER STOCK CARB BACK ON. IT LIKES THE 4:56 GEARS WHEN I PUT MY 31S ON. RECENTLY I BOUGHT A 2.5 OUT OF A 91 WRANGLER. MY IDEA IS TO SWAP THE MPI ONTO MY ENGINE. I HAVE THE HARNESS, COMPUTER AND EVERYTHING. MY ONLY HANGUP IS HOW TO TRIGGER THE INJECTORS. MY BELLHOUSING DOESN'T HAVE A HOLE FOR THE TRIGGER. I CAN'T FIND ANY RELOCATOR KITS EXCEPT FOR THE 4.0L. HAS ANYONE CONQUERED THIS BEFORE??

You may be asking why club car.  Well, I was really looking for a 4.0 within a budget.  Let me tell you, all that I found, in my price point were bombs.  I drove my 2.5 and had a hunch it was going to last.  With the smaller engine and the fact that it was white, with plain jane small tires, etc. it looked like a golf cart.  Thus Club Car.
Sold my cherokee classic to buy the 95 YJ.  Switched my bigger tires and wheels from the cherokee and now we are doing alright.  I have owned it two years already and love it all seasons.
