Whats up? Is this the same site i was on 3years ago? Different style and many more peeps now? I'm Chris and I'm an alcoholic minus the meetings. Southside of chicago. I do concrete for the city and my yj has tasken a ritcheous pounding going to job sites all over the city. Ever seen a chicago pothole ridden street in the wild hundreds.lol. go no doors and just bikini from may to mid september(bad neihborhoods, well they respect craziness when they see me coming blaring slayer, there goes one crazy whiteboy...haha). want to get her off the beaten path soon. my daughters are getting older and would be tolerable. sucky part except city driving is I have an auto {95yj 2.5}. put tj flares on so not to rub the(was going for 31 but couldnt pass deal up) 30.5x9.5 bfg ats on 5hole tj rims(steal almost new all 5 rims included for 300). Had a tail light go out so grab the sawzall put led tractorish tail lights in. oops no reverse or liscense plate light. no inspections and too old for emissions here. Just got tube fenders today. going for low center of gravity with decent meat. gonna add tube fenders front and back. 1.5-2inch susp lift and 33s and a regear. Not looking to be pretty just functional as he**. might look into a junkyard 8.8 w disc brakes and lsd when i regear and already scouting for 4.0 throttle body. When i post I am open to all ideas. so dont hold back even if its just to rag me out cause if it wasnt for getting knocked down i never would have learned to stand up. Thanks for having me!!!

so im new here. been crusin a bit here and there lots of good info for the 2.5 guys.

so about me. i got a 86 jeep cherokee 2 door white 2.5 5 speed with 259k on it. and i love it. had it about a year now. has 3 inch procomp lift (got it used off craigslist) 31 inch tires and 3.73 gears. kinda nice to cruse down the freeway getting between 22 and 25 mpg. and has so little power that it stalls the engine rather then brake parts hehe. well its got a webber down draft 2 bbl carb on it. came that way when i got it. so its got a bit more power over stock. enough to pull a few guys out of stuck with their mighty 4.0. lol

plans
i got a 2.5 out of  a 94 wrangler with like 180k on it and it was supposedly  rebuilt at 120k. its got the intake and exhaust on it. so i am waiting till mega squirt comes out with their sequencer board so i can do sequential and coil per plug before i do the switch. also looking at doing other upgrades. been looking around at doing a supercharger upgrade. the centrifugal supercharger looks like the best bet sofar. wondering what makes/modle came with some stock. i know there was a few that had a factory roots/screw type... also looking at getting a mopar preformance purple cam for it. and mabe a prot and polish while i have it out of the vehicle. and other then injectors and throttle body can you think of any other upgrades that can be done easier out of vehicle then in?

time for picts and vids
my youtube. my subscribers also have vids of us wheeling from diff angles hehe.
enjoy

Hello All,
My name is Eric, here in Phx AZ . I just bought an 86 Cherokee, with the 2.5 and a 904 auto trans. It runs on a 4 inch lift and 31s. Found this site while looking for ways to improve the 4 banger. I am having the trans rebuilt in a couple months and am looking to also rebuild the motor and add a little more power.

Welcome!  Nice to see come older Jeeps still on the roads.  It's a rarity to see a CJ anymore out here.  Even YJ's are a bit scarce.

Name is Gregg, 32, and live in Port St Lucie, Fl.  My brother out in New Mexico just purchased a 09 Rubicon Unlimited so I'm taking his bone stock '95 YJ 2.5l off his hands.  Be flying out there 2nd week of April and driving it back to Florida.  Little concerned with it having 240,000 miles, but it's in excellent condition and I know he's taken care of it so hopefully she still has some life left in her.  As of right now, I'm not planning on getting too big into the off-road thing.  Do want to give the Jeep a bit of a more aggressive look so planning on a 4" lift, TJ flares, and either 33" or 35" tires.  Once the 4 cyl goes I'm hoping to go with a LS1 swap as I"m very familiar with them.

Have owned a few Jeeps in the past.  First one was a '95 YJ bone stock which I only owned for approx 6 months.  Bought it as a daily driver seeing I had totaled my brand new '98 Camaro SS after 5 days of ownership and had ordered a 2000 Camaro SS.  So drove the YJ in the mean time.  Also owned a '76 CJ-7 with a 304.  Engine blew like 3 days after I bought it.  Bought a 401 and pretty much hand it ready to go except for fuel lines and got orders to Alaska (military at the time) and didn't have time to complete so parted it out.

Have done a ton of off-roading in Wa state and Alaska.  Guess I've been spoiled with such great places to off-road that the terrain (mud) of S Florida doesn't really interest me.  Did all my off-roading in a '93 Toyota P/U with a little ole 4 cyl, 4" susp, 3" body, 5.29 gears, and lockrites f/r.

Oh yeah, I also currently own a beater '93 XJ which I'm planning on getting rid of once I get the JY down here.  Thought about swapping the 4.0 from the XJ into the YJ but after reading that there's pretty much just as much work involved in doing that swap vs a V8, V8 it is.

Hey, Greg, gimme a ring once you are down in FL; I am in Miami, so it's only a couple of hours drive time.  Maybe we can do some light wheeling (I am not big on the terrain here either, but it's still fun to get the Jeep dirty; done all my wheeling in Panama, Central America).
'94 YJ 2.5L with 4" RE lift, Superwinch EPi9.0, FoMoCo e-Fan, SD30 and SD35 w/ARB-5.13, 165A alt., 33" BFG KM2 on 15" AR wheels, Sony sound system, Pavement Ends Hardtop, Hydroboost
