Wow! Am I the first new member of 2018? I just picked up my first jeep ever. I guess part of my bucket list. I've had broncos, trucks, and a few other 4x4s but never a jeep. I like to say the jeep found me. I really wasn't looking for another vehicle. 4 cars with 2 licensed drivers is enough, oh well, lets make that 5 to 2 now.
I recently acquired a 1994 YJ manual trans. 166,000 miles and a little rust. I am in the process of replacing the back half frame right now. Previous owner replaced alternator, water pump, power steering pump serpentine belt, idler pulley, crankshaft pulley, shocks, brakes, brake lines and tires all in the last 4000 miles. It needs a new driver floor pan, something done about the small amount of rust on the windshield, and the rust through the kick panel. The biggest bother right now is the exhaust leak. It drives me NUTS! and I will remedy that as soon as I fix the frame. I really like the 4 banger and really like the Jeep. I can't wait to drive it here at the beach and on the beach in coastal NC. Thank you all for having such an informative site. Here is the only side shot I have, but really, if you've seen one stock 94 YJ, you've seen everything mine is.

Newbie here. Just picked up a 1999 TJ with a 2.5L that has no compression on #2 and 10 psi on #3. Looking for any performance mods I can do while I have the top end apart.

Welcome!  Cam's are slim pickings but they're out there.  Higher ratio rocker arms out also out there.  Port matching the intake with a 4.0L TB is very common.  Larger injectors, etc...

Just picked up a pretty nice little ‘94 YJ to play with and do some events. Not new to 4x4 buggies but it’s been a good while since my last Jeep like vehicle. Had a ‘74 FJ40 that I built from the ground up.  Dry excited about this new addition to the fold. Many ideas swirling around already. Gotta shore up that 4 banger first though... it gets a bit pissy if you stab the pedal with out a downshift and has no issues voicing her angst via a hearty backfire through the pipe... Glad to be here and look forward to the forums!

Hi All - I am new to this Forum since a recently purchased a 1999 TJ SE from a Florida auction. TJ  is rustfree and came with a 3.5 body lift and 18" rims (yeah couldn't believe it myself). Couple other minor issues but fixing them one at a time. All amd all seems like a nice little ride. The TJ has a automatic transmission and i am hopping that my teenage son and daughter will help me work on it. To increase performance i recently swaped out the Throttle body with one from a 4.0. Don't know if the performance increase is from a good cleaning to the throttle body or the extra diameter but I can definitely notice a difference. Better off the line, and smoother idle. I am not new to jeeps. I had an 85 CJ7 back in the late 80s as well as two CJ7 I am currently making into one. Keep Jeeping ●||||||●

Hey there, Im new too. I bought my 94 YJ a couple of summers ago from a guy in Durango CO. Its got 196k miles with an engine rebuild supposedly done by the previous owner at 130k. So far I have just put a lunchbox locker in the front axle and put some BFG A/T's on her. The four banger has a throttle body spacer and new wires on her. I love this jeep so far. I take her up to silver ton for some passes and she gets 24mpg. Can't believe that crap. Anyway, good to be around some people who are happy with their 4 poppers.

Welcome!  Wow, 24 mpg is pretty good.  I've only gotten that when driving around 45-50 mph on the highway for a long stretch which is rare.  Mixed driving brings that down to around 16-17 with my current setup.

I left that dangling I think. I get 24 on the highway up to Silverton. Haha. So I do have a quick question; I busted my passengers motor mount bracket and i prayed my way home. Is Brown Dog the go-to replacement for these engines?

The riser plate or the mount itself?  I don't think you can get the OE version any longer.  The OE was $15.  $39 isn't bad though.

I just bought a 94 Wrangler with a 2.5/5spd a few weeks ago. It runs and drives great, the frame is in good condition, but the body needs some attention.  It's currently on 33s and I'm fairly certain it has a 4" lift.  Looking forward to reading up on the AMC/Jeep 2.5.
