Baxter from Anderson City, GA. Lifelong jeep owner(76 CJ7, 05 Unlimited, now 84 7) this is first with 2.5. Jeep is in excellent shape, and I've started the mandatory biuldup. 3" Superlift, new steering linkage and sector, brakes, wheels(285x16) and tires, custom gator lined interior, original cinnamon paint, all pads and covers for inside, XHD mod bumper with Warn 8000, rear bumper and jack rack, sliders, on and on...Now gonna get the powerplant generating. Gonna go with Clifford total upgrade package, (master rebiuld, cam, Weber 38, intake, header, milled and shaved) the whole shabang. Any thoughts from the Faithful? Clifford rep thinks 185 is attainable, we'll see and will inform!

Hey all. I recently moved to the left coast and wonder why everyone does not drive a Jeep out here. I am on my 2nd one in a year. First i had a 1976 Waggy. Great , but at 6 mpg I found a '95 YJ Rio Grande. Love it!
I just spent the day workong on her. With the help of a buddy we did:
*tune up ( wires, plugs, air filter (paper for now)
*fuel filter. factory clamps were a bitch.
*steering damper (kyb)
*nitro 4000 shocks
*oil pan gasket change
* started last night) wanted to get out any sludge that was in the pan after 120,000 miles
*Transmission filter
new gasket on the thermostat, and new top hose and heater hoses.
* ecu reset
*power sprayed her clean!!!
Happy engine. I also pulled the air intake and used a can of gumout carb cleaner and her idle went from 12oo to 600. purrs!
tomorrow I am replacing the tubingto the transmission cooler. Leaking all over so i am going to try and use 3/8 tubing and doubled up snake clamps.

Hi everyone, I have a 94 YJ with mods I like and others that seemed like a good idea at the time. I hope to learn enough to make good future choices, and correct the others. I like the feel of this site compared to others I have visited. I guess it's the 4 banger thing. Thanks to all responsible for the great info and knowledge sharing.

Just new to this forum as of this morning....and proud to say that I own a 92 YJ 4Banger. My best Jeepin buddy has a 6Cyl and he has been bragging for so long about it....I could not help but laugh when I had to winch him out of a jam....that I rolled thru. Just made my year. Anyway....its a 92, had an 08 JK.....wife hated it. so i got rid of it a year ago....missed Jeepin so much...I bought this one 6 months ago. Now it is Rubicon raised 2.5", tube front fenders, 33 X 12.5 x 15 Procomp Xcess tires, Warm 9000 winch, Aussie locker front, rubicon rear end with air locker, 488 gears, 10gal CO2 tank, softop, all black. Just havin the best time of my life...been thru John Bull 2x, Cleghorn a bunch, all over Big Bear, Dishpan Springs, lookin' fwd to Ocatillo Wells next weekend....and Rubicon Trail next May 2010.  The Harley just sits in the garage....hasn't moved in 4 months.

So far....love the forum...great to see all the writeups....some have come in very handy already. Hope to see some of you all out in the mountains.

Hello to all.  I am new to this website and am glad it is strictly for 4 cyl jeeps, this really narrows the field to help find some answers.  Anyway, I am OSO and have owned this '92 YJ for the past 5 years; this is my 7th 4wd vehicle I have owned.  So I am not new to this genre.  I installed a 4" Black Diamond lift with a 1" body lift riding on 31x10.5 ProComp All-Terrains.  I installed a Richmond limited slip unit in the rear and have a unit to install in the front; wanting to have lower gears installed later.  I also installed a PE8000 Mile Marker winch.  I just bought a 4.0 TB and Taurus electric fan which I plan to install in a couple of weeks, later I will switch to the Ford injectors; I also have a K&N filter w/ TBS.  This web site has truly helped me in many ways, thanks to all of you.  I enjoy 4 wheeling and riding my quad out in the desert.

Hey Fellow 4 Poppers, I have had a few Jeeps in the past and this is my first 4 popper. I have had CJ's,YJ's and XJ's and now I have a 1998 TJ 4 cyl automatic - I told myself when I got it , that I wouldn't mod it  - I bought it for a DD for back and forth to work 25 miles each way. After 6 weeks of having it , I am looking for some cheap mods !!! I still have a 1999 XJ with 4 1/2 " of lift and other stuff. But am looking forward to taking the top and doors of as soon as this Wisconsin winter is over .

Thanks for reading my ramblings.

Howdy, new here and I drive a four banger... 2000 TJ to be exact.  It's the only 4wd I've owned, bought it over ten years and almost 124000 miles ago.  I've been wrenching on cars of one sort or another since I was eight, by profession I'm an aircraft mechanic.
