Hey, I am from Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada.  I have a 1990 YJ with about 330,000 kms.  I have had it now for about 6 months, and have been spending a lot of time on jeep forum asking questions and everytime I ask something about my little 2.5 all I get is the same response (if I get any at all), swap out that ols wore out sewing machine  motor and put in a V8.  I don't have the time or the money to change it out and all the other mods that have to be done to compensate for the extra power.  Plus the little 4 cylinder is a real good working motor and with some gearing (which is a lot cheaper then engine swaps) you can run what ever you want for tires.

Anyways i was just on jeepforum and got directed here for questions about the 2.5 so I am looking forward to pestering you all with questions.

Well, i dont want to jump the gun, but so far im having a blast. Until i realized the wipers didnt work.  That sucked! That section of the Chilton might as well be toilet paper. When i layed the windshield down, i had good news, and bad news. The good news was, i found a brand new (never used) Gerber folding all stainless knife! The bad news, somewhere down the line it got mangled up into the wiper linkage and effed it all up.

Hello all!

Micah from San Diego.  32, married, electrician. 

Have a 92 YJ,  Slowly getting it fixed up.  so far just some minor stuff.  31"tires, 1.25" lift shackles, and a bunch of repairs(ignition system, Vacuum lines, alternator, interior lighting shorts...)

biggest issue is getting it to run better.  IT will randomly idle Rough, has a weird back fire when i down shift and use the engine to brake, and is high in the HC count when it gets smog'd (just passing).  Thinking its gotta be an injector issue.  Going to be doing a lot of reading on here looking for some clues!

Hello all!

Check the Throttle position sensor. Mine did the same thing. Replaced the tps, and cleared it up asap.
