Hey all! I've been lurking (read learning) on this forum for about a year now. My name is Doug and I bought my 95 YJ in April 09 and LOVE it! My motley crew hails from north-central missouri. Been married for almost 16 years to the best woman (she was my NCOIC in the Marine Corps) in the world and we have two boys (11 and 7). We all really dig the Jeep and we've made a couple trips to Hannibal Rocks OFP. My YJ has the 2.5l with a manual trans. Superlift 4", Boomerang shackles, and 33's on American Racing alloys. With the great help from the FAQ section, I'm running with a 4.0 throttle body, Accel coil and wires, 19lb injectors, rad fan from a Taurus and a 136 amp alternator. I have custom bumpers (rear with swing out) and rock sliders. I put a smittybilt 8000lb winch up front. We ditched the carpet and lined the tub. It's a great Jeep and it's awesome family fun :thumb: !!

I'll try anything twice...just to make sure I don't like it!

Welcome to the club!!!  :beers:
Is that your jeep in the pic or did you grab that off of JP magazine?

welcome to the forum

20mpg is achievable if you keep the stock wheels (or close) - i used to get 13 mpg with 33'' tires but i was heavy on the throttle (i was not burning tires or anything but more to keep up with the traffic :). 16 to 18 mpg if i was driving for fuel economy and depending on the wind :D

I was getting 20's with stock gears and 32's when I was able to drive 50-55mph.  I'd stick with some 31's though.  Good compromise.

31x10.5 was the plan but right now im only getting 16 mpg on a good day with 29" tires........ I have so far gutted the cat and installed a high flow knock off flow master muffler and removed the restrictions from the air box and that was good for one extra mpg....15 to 16 mpg and increased my top speed to 85 mph.

As you have found your top speed increases as you have gain some HP at the higher speeds but this comes at a cost of your low-end torque.  Gutting your cat and removing the 'restrictions' will change the torque band for better or worse.

Still, you're driving a box that was really designed with 50-55mph in mind.  Wind resistance becomes a factor at 35MPH and up.  The scale is non-linear so the faster you go the more wind becomes a real problem.

Afternoon Everyone,
My name is Rob, I have an '01 TJ that I've had for the past 6 years.  She's slightly modded.  I enjoy playing on the rocks more than the mud, but free rides in the Pines compared to fees at Rausch Creek play a role as to where I go.
Hope to see some of my fellow 4 Bangers out on the trails.
