Dave here.  Charleston, WV.  Good at reading, bad at execution.

I have had 99 TJ since ~2001.  Got it from father-in-law.  Only in the last year or so, have i become interested in making any real changes.  Just as I fell truly in love, it was stolen.  Oddly enough it was recovered, when the inspection sticker expired.  Mostly joyriding and hooligan damage stuff.  I will spare you the details.

I just about have all the evil washed off of her now, and its time to make here better than before.  I have the electric fan kit and TB to install as soon as i can muster the time.  I am currently reworking a 2.5L that i got from junkyard mostly for educational purposes, but its getting to be a little more than that :)

I think sometimes about leaving the 4bangerjp and joining the 8bangerjp.  Then I think, why don't i just keep this and get a Lotus.  Then I realize how silly that is and I start all over.

Hello! I'm a retired Fire Captain out here in Southern California. Married 34 years. 3 sons all grown up. 3 grandchildren. We spend a lot of our time babysitting the grandkids. I get about two weekends a month to get out and 4x4 with my buddies at Hi Desert 4x4 group of Yucca Valley. we go into Johnson Valley, up to Big Bear when it's real hot down below. Travel to Truckhaven at Anza Borrego off-road vehicle area. Explore the Dale Mining district east of 29 Palms. Even get away to Panamint Valley, Calico, etc. I have had several 4x4's. Sizuki Sidekick, a couple of Toyota Pick-ups over the years. But I finally broke down and got a Jeep last year. It's a 94 YJ that is pretty much stock. Except for the Rough Country 4" Lift and 31" tires. And yes it has a 4 banger. I have enjoied reading about everyone's projects and the tech info and helpfull info from the administrator and other participants here. Thanks! Maybe I'll see you on the trail. Take care.

Hello all. I found this site while searching for diesel swap ideas. I stalked all of you for awhile.  :rtfm: Well then I decided to join in because all the cool kids are doing it. Peer pressure is a *****.

Anyways Im 22 and have gotten the jeep itch again. It seems to come every other year. I first got the itch in 2008 when I purchased my first Jeep a 94 YJ Sahara. Then I got the performance car itch and sold it to pay for a WRX.  :brick: The itch came back later that year while I was deployed to Iraq and when I returned traded for a 04 TJ Unlimited Sahara, which traded into a RX-8. As you can see its a vicous cycle. Well the RX8 was traded to help the wife with a much needed upgraded ...... :naughty:...... ride. Well the itch has struck again, but much cheaper this time since I am able to pick up a 01 TJ 4banger from my father for dirt cheap. I am currently deployed in Iraq..... again, so I am anxiously waiting to take possesion when I return home. Now I just need a turbo...... :stick:

Ok, we have surpassed our 100th member.  The forum gets people from all over the world but only a few are actually joining up.

So lets see some introductions from the new guy's on the forum.
Happy to be aboard! I live in the Rockies up at 7,500 feet altitude and having a jeep is pretty much a necessity.  Retired and the wife and I began getting together with a couple of my previous co workers who ride with a local 4 wd club.  Discovered it was much more fun than commuting! Joined the club and do a lot of trails up in the high country now.  I bought a 97 TJ 4 cyl hard top we call 'Lil Buckaroo' many years ago.  Because of the high altitude, I have modified it to better 'cope'.  Nothing fancy...9.8:1 compression, Delta 127-248 cam, 4.5 deg cam adv., taper bored stock TB, Corvette LS1 0280 155 890 Bosch injectors, and so forth.  I don't advocate this as a way of building the engine at lower altitudes, but up here, I still get away with 85 octane rot gut gas.  At sea level, I doubt you could get high enough octane gas to prevent pinging.  Also have 2" lift, 31x10.5 Yokohamas, Detroit Tru trac, and the required winch.  Very mild mods, but I get around OK.....Rocky Mtn

Howdy all my name is Rob (BIG ROB to my friends). I currently reside in Clearfield Utah thats roughly 40 minutes North of Salt Lake City. I am a proud owner of a 98 TJ and have been for about nine years. I've been married almoust eight years. No kids.  My wife is a jeeper as well. I took her out on our first date in this jeep as well as teaching her how to drive a manual in this jeep. This is the one vehicle we both agree we will never get rid of.  Even when the engine blew and I was out of work we sold alot to keep her. Now with the original motor rebuilt a couple of years ago she runs perfect like always. And has never left me stranded. Even when the motor was ready to blow she got home.   I work for a local Polaris dealer and always get asked when will I buy one? My response. Who needs a 4 wheeler when you have JEEP!!!!
