Nah, Jeffy.  Don't get an STI.

That car has probably single-handedly "raised" a billion dollars in citation revenues for municipalities across the country   Its not like a Corvette or a 911 -- fast cars that you can do the speed limit in and not feel like a knucklehead.

With the STI, uninitiated folks see a sedan with a spoiler.  They don't know you have sweet performance car until you smoke them at a stoplight, blow by them on the highway at 130mph etc.  So you are going to be driving that thing fast all the time just to feel good about making the payments.

The '08/09 doesn't have a huge spoiler like they used to.  It's a 4dr hatchback.  It looks very different then the current STI.

If ya have to get a second vehicle, why not get something you can tow the Jeep with?

So I can have two slow vehicles?  :roflol:  I want something that I can commute with if I have to.  Long road trips as well.  Not to mention have a vehicle that I is considered more respectable.

Nope a truck won't fit the bil.  I don't have the room for one first off.  Not practical for carrying 3 or more people.  Needs to look presentable with a suit on those occasions.  You know business types.  I'd like something more on opposite side of the spectrum.  :wall:

I understand practicallity, but my Dodge is FAR from slow.

here's my two cents.  You just want a car you can commute in and look presentable, right.  I know you probably hate the idea, but get a used honda.  Cheap, reliable, and good on gas.  Might not be that fun, but it will surely be quicker than the jeep.  :weee:

But that's just me.  cheap reliable transportation. And then you have your wonderful jeep for the weekends.

Also if you really don't want to go that route, I would consider this.  Buying a new car now or within the next five years or so, would be silly.  Why? Because it's only a matter of time before most cars are bio-fuel or hydrogen powered.  I just can't see spending money on something that you may have to pay a shit load of taxes on because it runs one gas.  And also I'm not some loonie who wants to save the planet.  That's just seems to be reality.

But then again, you could always get an sti and use it on the weekends you don't use the jeep.  Then get a honda for the commute during the week.

Finally someone who knows what they're talking about!   :beers:

The car won't be coming out till next year at the earliest.  Then I might still wait a bit.  I'm also looking at getting a bike.  Not a crotch rocket but a dual-sport.  Then I can park the Jeep and move on to Stage III.

I thought a lot about getting a dual sport several times. I like the idea of being able to cruise down the road, see a trail and go explore. Almost as good as driving a Jeep!

This is the bike I'd like to have:

But I think I'll have to settle on something a bit smaller and less $$$.  Then add panniers on the side and a top case.

i swear i've seen a 08 rex already at the dealership. the hokey ass website doesn't work for me to get a link. they look better than my bugeye '02.  that looks like a mad max bike or one from delta force movie (i think) from the 80's. there's plenty of trails in ohio for bikes like that.

The WRX is on sale but not the STI.  They look very different.  The STI was just unveiled today at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

If it ain't a cruiser, I have no use for it.

One of the engineers at my shop rides one of these.

Has a matching jumpsuit that he wears anytime he rides it and uses one of the bags as a briefcase.

We call him the blue power ranger.

I'm not into the whole S&M Cruiser thing...  Power Rangers are typically the guy's who but the rockets and track them on weekends.

That bike right there is a BMW F650 Dakar.  They stopped making those.  The G650 XCountry sort of replaces it. (that's teh black one above).  If he's got a matching suit then it's a BMW Rallye II.  Those a really nice and $$$$.  I've already bought my Jacket which isn't blue... :twofingers:
