Tarus Electric Fan Fit inside of the 2.5L Fan Shroud?
« on: February 05, 2008, 02:59:31 PM »
I want to put an electric on the Jeep for more HP and also want it to have a clean look. So I want to keep my orignal Shroud and was wondering will it fit inside? Dont want to modify/make any brackets for it and dont want all that empty space.....

Thanks
Anthony

You will still be modifying and making brackets to fit the efan inside the stock fan shroud.  The stock fan shroud is fugly.

The Taurus fan shroud is bigger then the 2.5L's so you'd need to really cut it up to fit inside.  Then you'd still need to make some sort of bracket to mount it.

Is there any Electric fan that can keep the motor Cool but also fit inside the Shroud? Like snug fit?

The only thing I can think of is some universal fan of some sort.  You'll have to check the CFM to see if it's strong enough.  The thing about the FoMoCo fans are that they give you high CFM and long lasting while also being cheap.  You must really like the stock shroud.

What would you recommend the CFM's to be?

I think most fan companies think that 1600-1800 is OK for a 4cylinder.  I know MK8 fan is way more then that even in slow speed.  I'm sucking small animals into my grill.

If you remove the stock fan shroud you'd have enough room for a med. size 12v cooler!!

Just out of curiosity, why are you so set on keeping the shroud?  I used the Ford fan's shroud and slightly modified it to fit y radiator, and I am really happy with the results...  And still, the entire cost of the fan with the shroud was under $30!  Plus, you will free a lot of space in the engine compartment by getting rid of the stock shroud...

My Taurus fan bolted right up on one side, and used 2 90º brackets on the other side to bolt between the fan shroud and radiator.  Used all 4 threaded holes that were already in the radiator.  Barely noticeable.

If you're worried about appearance, IMO it looks a lot better than the oem fan shroud.

Same here; but I used 3 bolts to put it in place instead of 4.

X2.

I pasted these pictures many times in many threads, but here they are once again...
