Jeep JK Rubicon axles!?!?!?

Got this link off my local Jeep site.  No wonder you can get these so cheap!?  There is a link on this page that takes you too the actual guys posts but this one does have all the pics.

Moved to the correct forum...

Seems that people are breaking the axle tubes at the track bar location.  This was also a weak area for the YJ's.  Since the axle is wider on the JK there is probably more leverage as well.

One more reason to take off the track bars on a YJ  :biggrin:.  I have also heard of several cases (two local and one from internet) of broken u-joints and axle shaft ears on the JK front axles in very easy terrain.

I dont think it is because of the trackbar; I think it has to do more with the welding of the trackbar bracket...  In any case, this is not good for Jeep, especially considering their so-called "Lifetime Drivetrain Warranty".

wow and this come up the same night that my dad asks me what we should do for lift and tires on our 4door jk...
1990 YJ 4cly, ax5, 2.5 inch BDS lift, 31 MTr\'s,  Powertrax-lockers all around, track-bars removed, boomerang shackles, warn m8000 winch, electric fan. [sold but not forgotten]

These are the Rubicon D44 axles.  Your standard JK's aren't having this problem.

That they do...  Which means they are brittle, and will not bend; they will simply crack!
