Its big enough you can't run a 5x4.5 bolt pattern.

The only hubs that can clear a 4.5" bolt pattern are Explorer hubs and those are pretty close to the threads.

has anyone re-drilled the waggy hubs? is that an option? and if not what is the downside - i'm talking about doing it on a mill/drill with a rotary table and divider not by hand (just for my future reference).

This is interesting.   A local jeep builder once told me it works out well to have a wider axle in front because when turning it is more likely for the inside rear tire to travel over the same spot the front one went over.

True, the front axle needs to be wider than the rear. As far as I know all the Jeep front ends are wider than the rear. Some of the old CJ5's had a real narrow rear end with a wide front end. Prolly about 6  inches differance between them.

Mozz to prove it the best, you will actually have to wheel it first, breaking an axle shaft while mall crawling doesn't count lol

Dana 60 is overkill for a 4 banger on 35" tires or smaller.
Moz wants to put a V8 in his and looking at it from that perspective his choice makes a lot of sense. Not picking on you bro, you had a pretty darn nice Jeep built for yourself

..and to clarify...

no locker problem, just ripped an air line..easy fix and no problems since with the braided steel line.

The brakes have sucked from the start, but that's what I get for using Caddy calipers which are more suited to a D44...going to 1-ton truck brakes next month.  No more constant adjusting and squishy pedal for me.  :clap:

If you want wider in the rear, there are a few companies out there with 2" spacers. Hp44 is 67", 8.8 is 59.5" + 4" (2" spacers) so 63.5"....
