I usually wave at the short wheel base Jeeps and any Jeep vehicle that looks like it is actually used off road.  When I had a '43 GPW the veterans in Douglas, AZ would salute when I drove by, which even more cool than the Jeep wave.

i live in CT and i get the wave. i recently drove pretty far upstate in NY for some relaxin with friends a bit of wheelin and i got the wave pretty much everywhere along the way. I go to school in the bronx and ive never gotten the wave there-city jeeps are just plain rude i suppose :) and ive never gotten a wave from any JK owner-guess the new wave-no pun intended-of jeep owners just doesnt know about the wave tradition.

They should have a sticker on the visor like they do for airbags that tells you to wave dammit.

There are TONS of Jeeps here in Miami, and most of them will not wave.  Some of the built rigs will, though, and I ussually wave back (as long as I see them waving).

Chrysler/Jeep used to have a Jeep Wave handbook that they would give to new owners.  I still only wave to Jeeps that look like they've been wheeled or any stock CJ.  There are a few lifted Jeeps around me.  I haven't seen the guy in the silver SOA YJ ever wave though.  The Yellow TJ waves and there is a green TJ that waves as well.  There's a old CJ2A but he had his hands full to wave one...  Don't see too many other CJ's anymore.  Kinda sad really.  Maybe I should put a CJ fromt clip on my Jepe to help represent.
