very cool, looks great. nice that you gathered matching parts for black/white sets.

did you make the board yourself (black/white checkers part i mean), like painted it? can't figure it out from the pics.

It's tile. I had them cut down to 2.25 inches. 1/16 grout line.
The hard part was finding stuff I had I could make 2 complete sets out of. Plus getting the scale to work right. It would have been sad for the queen or bishop to be taller than the king  :nono:
I wouldn't mind doing a smaller chess set down the road. This is pretty large. Not something you toss in the closet when not in use.

I saw the Ford emblem and knew it had to be a robot. He is about 13 inches tall.
I started a Chevy one and a Dodge one will follow that. These guy's are a blast to make.

The idea is for these 3 auto themed bots not to be the same. So I am doing each a bit different. Feet are kinda tough. They have to be large enough so it's stable. It would be a shame for these to be off balance. I have seen some rocker arms used as feet before. I have some. For these bots they are not large enough. I thought about pushrods I have some not a lot. I have found that some don't mind being bent and others snap. I have some pushrods going on the Dodge bot. (Not feet)
I agree with less is more. Sometimes it's hard to say "that's enough".
